How to succeed in spray painting
Spray painting is easier than you think and you can learn it quickly with a little practice. Check out the easy painting instructions below and you'll be sure to succeed. A flat surface is a prerequisite for a professional-quality paint surface. We always recommend priming.
Quick guide to spray painting
1. Always read the product's instruction manual before starting work.
2. Prepare the surface to be treated. Sand with sandpaper if necessary and wipe off the sanding dust with a damp cloth and let dry. If there are any unevennesses on the surface, smooth them out first to ensure a good finish. Clean the surface to be treated from dirt, dust and grease. A degreaser works great for this.
3. Protect areas that are not to be painted well. It is also a good idea to carefully clean off any sanding dust and other dirt so that it does not accidentally get on the wet paint surface.
4. Shake the spray paint bottle according to the instructions. This will help the dye mix evenly and give you a better finish.
5. Check/test the painting distance. The distance varies from 15-40 cm depending on the product. It is important to follow the instructions to be successful.
6. Test paint on a small area. The area to be tested can be, for example, the back of the product, which will not be visible when the product is used. By testing the product, you ensure that it is suitable for the material/surface to be used.
7. Always start painting with a very thin coat. Spray thin coats, side to side, vertically and again horizontally. Always let the previous coat dry to dust-free before applying the next coat.
8. Follow the recommended drying times and allow the surface to dry completely.
9. Finally, clean the nozzle by turning the bottle upside down and spraying until only propellant comes out.
