The APS Striker-12 Street Sweeper shotgun is based largely on the DAO-12 (Dual Action Ordnance) or Striker-12 model, also known as the "Street Sweeper." This weapon is a shotgun with a rotating drum-type magazine, and its original version was developed in South Africa in the 1980s. The DAO-12/Striker-12 was designed specifically for military and security use, and has also become iconic in popular culture through films and video games.

The APS Striker-12 Street Sweeper shotgun's gas system is based on the well-known CAM870 MK-2 system, which allows Green Gas to be loaded directly into the gun without the need for external tanks or hoses. This simplifies use and makes adding gas during play quick and convenient. The gun has a spring-loaded rotating drum-type magazine that holds 12 shells. Each shell can hold up to 3 bullets at a time.

The weapon's ergonomic front and rear grips and folding stock provide comfort and control in tight spaces.
