PP-19-01 Vityaz – Russian modern submachine gun

The PP-19-01 Vityaz is a modern submachine gun developed in Russia, based on the AK-74M and PP-19 Bizon series. It is designed for use by Russian special forces and law enforcement agencies, and its reliability and simple AK-style design make it a popular choice in tight operational situations.

The PP-19-01 Vityaz was developed by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) to replace the earlier PP-19 Bizon. Development of the Vityaz began in the early 2000s with the goal of providing Russian special forces and police units with a compact, reliable, and effective submachine gun chambered for the standardized 9x19 mm Parabellum cartridge.

The Vityaz is largely based on the operation and ergonomics of the AK-74M, making it easier to train and deploy for troops accustomed to using Kalashnikov-series assault rifles.

The PP-19-01 Vityaz has been in service with the Russian OMON and FSB special forces, as well as several other law enforcement and military organizations. It is designed primarily for building clearance, hostage situations, and other close-range operations requiring effective yet controllable firepower.
