The Army Armament R45A1 Full Metal GBB is an airsoft version of the 1911 Detonics .45 pistol. The Detonics .45, better known in the gun world as the Detonics Combat Master, is a very compact version of the classic 1911 pistol. It was developed in the late 1970s and officially released in 1976. The Detonics .45 was one of the first "subcompact" 1911 pistols to go into production. The Detonics Combat Master has a shorter barrel and grip than a traditional 1911 pistol. The barrel is approximately 3.5 inches long, and the overall length of the gun is significantly shorter than the original 1911 model. Although the gun is smaller in size, it uses the standard .45 ACP cartridge, which is typical of 1911 pistols.
