Emerson's 420 vest, a modern take on plate carrier vests, is a modular, 500 denier cordura PC vest base. It comes with a removable panel for three AR magazines. In addition, the vest has a zippered document pocket on the front. The vest is adjustable for different sizes with an adjustable cummerbund. The back of the vest is made entirely of MOLLE-compatible webbing and is also removable.

The inside of the vest is mesh-like, which transfers moisture and heat more efficiently. The padded shoulder straps are adjustable. The vest has padding plates inside that can be replaced with plates suitable for training or exercise use.
