Thunder B is a sound effect grenade system developed by Hakkotsu, which operates with a carbon dioxide capsule (12g). Thanks to its gas operation, it is fire-safe, unlike similar grenades that operate with gunpowder. The grenade shells are also constructed so that when the grenade "explodes", they break into large pieces in a controlled manner and thus do not pose a risk of fragmentation. However, the shells are sturdy enough to withstand being thrown.
The covers are disposable. Additional covers are also available separately and come in different colors and shapes.
The grenade's operating principle is relatively straightforward. The firing mechanism, which is screwed onto the top of the grenade shell, includes a primer housing, a firing pin, and a spoon that holds the firing pin in place with a cotter pin. When the pin is removed and the grenade is thrown, the spoon opens and releases the firing pin, which ruptures the carbon dioxide capsule. The gas expands inside the grenade and when the pressure builds up enough, the shells pop apart with a loud bang. As an additional effect, you can use, for example, potato flour inside the shell, which creates a nice pop. The pressure build-up of the gas can vary, so the exact "burn time" cannot be determined, but it is usually a few seconds.
NOTE! The sound effect is loud, up to 130 decibels. Especially when used indoors, make sure that your hearing is protected from both the user and the target.
