The Helikon-Tex Level 7 Jacket – Field (NIR/IRR) is a high-tech jacket made for extreme weather. It has NIR/IRR technology that effectively masks the wearer in night vision.
Field products in PL Woodland camouflage provide NIR (Near Infrared) functionality, also referred to as IRR (Infrared Reflective). The materials used help reduce the contrast of the wearer's silhouette when viewed through devices operating in the near-infrared spectrum. All visible fabrics and components are selected to absorb, reflect and transmit radiation in a way that closely resembles the natural environment, woodland terrain. Each material is tested under both laboratory and field conditions using a spectrophotometer and analog night-vision devices.
Climashield® Apex™ insulation keeps you warm even when wet. Unlike down, synthetic fibre insulation stays warm when wet and does not clump together. The jacket is machine washable. In the Level 7 jacket the insulation weighs 100 g/m², thicker than in lighter models such as the Wolfhound. It is lightweight, efficient, breathable and compresses well.
Ripstop nylon provides protection and durability in cold temperatures. The fabric combines high mechanical resistance with good breathability, which is crucial for long-term use in demanding conditions. It effectively protects against wind, moisture and snow without compromising thermal comfort. The ripstop weave reinforces the fabric structure so that damage does not spread, and the hydrophobic coating on the outer layer increases resistance to dirt and moisture penetration.
The Level 7 jacket is designed according to the third-generation ECWCS system (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System), a multi-layer clothing system designed for survival and operation in extreme weather conditions. The Level 7 jacket is the final layer of this system: the outer layer and the warmest one.
Hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs and a drawcord at the hem allow you to fine-tune the fit to the weather. The large hood is ready for a helmet, adjustable with shock cords and stowable in the collar, which is lined with fleece on the inside. The two-way YKK® main zipper provides quick access to the gear worn under the jacket and allows adjustments to thermal comfort. Five functional pockets can be used even when wearing gloves: two fleece-lined chest pockets with compartments for a phone and small equipment, an inside chest pocket with a zipper, and two lower inside mesh pockets that let wet items such as gloves dry quickly. Hook-and-loop panels on the shoulders allow jacket personalization.
