Helikon-Tex Lightweight Poncho - Field (NIR/IRR) - PL Woodland

The Helikon-Tex Lightweight Poncho - Field (NIR/IRR) is a waterproof rain poncho with an NIR/IRR feature for concealment under night vision. It comes in PL Woodland camouflage.

The poncho is made of ripstop polyester (100% polyester, 78 g/m²), which keeps out the rain and withstands snags, abrasion and daily use. The ripstop weave stops tears from spreading. The design is simplified: metal eyelets have been replaced with sturdy webbing loops, which reduces weight and packed size without changing the unfolded dimensions. Packed, it fits into a small pouch that slips into a side pocket of a backpack.

The loose fit allows you to wear the poncho over your clothes and a medium-sized backpack, and the drawstring hood protects your head from wind and rain. Snaps along the sides adjust the sleeves while walking. Two ponchos can be connected to create a larger canopy or a makeshift shelter in the field.

Field products in PL Woodland provide NIR (Near Infrared) functionality, also referred to as IRR (Infrared Reflective). According to the manufacturer, the materials help reduce the contrast of the wearer's silhouette when viewed through devices operating in the near-infrared spectrum. All visible fabrics and components are selected to absorb, reflect and transmit radiation in a way that closely resembles the natural environment, in this case woodland terrain. The materials are tested in the laboratory and in the field using a spectrophotometer and analog night-vision devices.
