Helikon-Tex Tramontane Jacket - Field (NIR/IRR) - PL Woodland

The Helikon-Tex Tramontane Jacket – Field (NIR/IRR) is an ultralight emergency wind layer with NIR/IRR technology that effectively masks the wearer in night vision.

Field products in PL Woodland camouflage provide NIR (Near Infrared) functionality, also referred to as IRR (Infrared Reflective). The materials used help reduce the contrast of the wearer's silhouette when viewed through devices operating in the near-infrared spectrum. All visible fabrics and components are selected to absorb, reflect and transmit radiation in a way that closely resembles the natural environment, woodland terrain. Each material is tested under both laboratory and field conditions using a spectrophotometer and analog night-vision devices.

Windpack® Nylon is a lightweight, fast-drying fabric that protects against the chilling effect of wind and improves thermal comfort during stops and low-intensity movement. The outer layer's DWR water-repellent coating increases resistance to dirt, reduces absorption and slows moisture penetration.

When folded, the jacket packs into its own chest pocket (self-pack), so it takes up minimal space and fits in a backpack, a bag or even a pants pocket. Eliminating unnecessary elements reduces the weight to a minimum, which gives better ventilation and full freedom of movement. The jacket works as a standalone layer in warmer conditions and as an outer windproof layer over a hoodie or light insulation in spring, summer and early autumn.
