A lighter model of a maihari, perfect for summer maihari, for example. The shoe still works well in winter with thicker socks.
The jungle boots were developed based on the experiences of the Vietnam War. The end result is an excellent shoe model suitable for summer use. These Mil-Tec shoes are made according to the model used in the Vietnam War.
Jungle boots are designed according to the traditional US Army leather landing boot, but in this shoe model the leather has been replaced from the upper to a durable cotton fabric to improve breathability. To drain water, there are two holes protected by a grid on the inside of the shoe above the sole of the boots. Considering the original purpose of use, it has been assumed that in the jungle your feet will get wet above the uppers of the boots anyway. In such situations, the jungle boots let water out and circulate air, while shoes with a membrane or full leather keep the water in.
The shoes work in all weather conditions in Finland, except when it is both cold and wet. In freezing temperatures, snow does not enter through the drainage holes thanks to the grids, but melt water penetrates the shoe. The shoes have good grip, in fact, according to the importer, better than many Central European shoes, which are basically designed for winter weather.
Shoes are definitely at their best in the summer.
These shoes are clones of the Vietnam War-era shoe model made by Mil-Tec in an all-black colorway. They lack two features of the shoes in question: the steel plate inside the sole and the vertical stitching on the bottom of the heel. Otherwise, the shoes are identical.
