PGD DELTA soft SAPI armor panel - NIJ IIIA

PGD DELTA is a soft ballistic panel in ESAPI cut, made in Denmark by Protection Group Denmark. The panel is inserted in the plate pocket of a plate carrier and fits most ESAPI-size plate pockets. According to the manufacturer, the panel is designed for use by armed forces and law enforcement personnel. The panels are sold individually.

The panel does not carry CE marking under the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.

Protection

The panel protects the area it covers against the following threats:

• Bullet impact (handgun ammunition): NIJ 0101.04:2000, Level IIIA (.44 Magnum SJHP and 9 mm FMJ)
• Fragmentation: STANAG 2920, 17 gr fragment, V50 592 m/s ± 9
• Stabs caused by blades: NIJ 0115.00, Level 1 (S1/G, 36 J)

Limitations

• The panel does not protect against rifle ammunition. Rifle threats require a certified hard armor plate.
• Protection applies only to the area covered by the panel. It does not protect the entire torso, the sides, the neck or the limbs.
• Even when a projectile is stopped, the impact can cause blunt trauma injuries.

Instructions for use

1. Insert the panel in the plate pocket of a carrier that matches the size and cut of the panel.
2. Place the panel with the side marked "WEAR FACE" towards the body.
3. Adjust the carrier's shoulder straps and cummerbund so the panel sits close to the body and covers the vital organs of the chest and upper abdomen.
4. Inspect the panel visually before every use. Check for cuts, tears, punctures, deformation, moisture or damage to the cover. Do not use a damaged panel.
5. Consider the environmental conditions and the threats in the user's surroundings before use.

Avoiding improper use

• Do not use the panel against threats other than those listed under Protection.
• Do not use a panel that has been hit by a projectile or blade. Replace it, even if no damage is visible.
• Do not repair, cut, pierce or modify the panel or its cover. Contact the manufacturer for advice.
• Do not bend or fold the panel, and do not place heavy objects on it.
• Do not expose the panel to water, solvents, fuel or other chemicals.
• Dirt adhering to the panel may affect its performance.

Sizes

Choose the panel size that matches the plate pocket of the carrier.

• Small: 227 × 303 mm (8.75" × 11.75"), ESAPI cut
• Medium: 246 × 323 mm (9.5" × 12.5"), ESAPI cut
• Large: 265 × 342 mm (10.25" × 13.75"), ESAPI cut

Care

Do not wash the panel. Wipe the cover with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Do not bleach, tumble dry or dry-clean. Always remove the panel from the carrier before washing the carrier.

Storage

Store the panel flat in a dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and aggressive agents.

Useful life and disposal

The useful life of the panel is stated on the panel's ballistic warranty. The manufacturer gives the panel a 7-year ballistic warranty. Actual useful life also depends on use, wear and maintenance. At the end of its useful life, or if damaged, take the panel out of service and dispose of it according to local legislation.

Markings

Each panel carries a label with the manufacturer's name, product name, size, protection level, wear face marking, serial or batch number and date of manufacture (month and year).
