The Type 100 submachine gun was a weapon used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, and was introduced in 1940. It was the only Japanese submachine gun produced in significant quantities at the time. The weapon was chambered for the 8×22 mm Nambu pistol cartridge and had a magazine capacity of 30 rounds. The initial model had a rate of fire of around 450 rounds per minute, but a later 1944 model increased this to around 800 rounds per minute. The Type 100 was equipped with a fixed wooden stock and had the option of attaching a bayonet. However, its use was limited, as production numbers were low and the cartridge's power was low compared to Western counterparts.
