The Spyderco Ceramic Benchstone – Fine offers superior precision and quality for sharpening knives and tools. This fine-grained sharpening stone is made from an extremely hard alumina ceramic (synthetic sapphire) with a Mohs hardness of 9.2 – almost as hard as diamond. It requires no water or oil to use, making it a worry-free and clean alternative to traditional stones.
The Fine grit size (6 microns) makes this stone the perfect choice for restoring your knife to razor-sharp sharpness. It works great as a finishing stone – especially after using the Medium stone – and is suitable for knives, wood tools and hard steels.
Ready to use and easy to clean
The stone measures 2” x 8” (5.1 cm x 20.3 cm), providing a stable and controlled sharpening surface. It comes in a light blue polymer case with non-slip rubber feet. The case lid also serves as a practical base during sharpening.
Cleaning is easy: use a liquid abrasive cleaner, a sponge or a Lansky rubber. The stone is also dishwasher and autoclave safe, making it a particularly hygienic choice.
Sharpening grit size and compatibility
Spyderco uses a micron-based classification for its sharpening stones:
- Fine: 6 microns (Japanese JIS 2200 / USA ANSI 1000)
- (Medium = 20 microns, Ultra-Fine = 3 microns – available separately)
If your knife is dull, we recommend starting with the Medium stone and finishing with this Fine version. You can also finish with the Ultra-Fine stone for razor-sharp precision.
