The AGM STEN Mk II(S) SOE AEG in Commando Grip configuration is a distinctive WWII-inspired airsoft submachine gun, replicating a suppressed special operations variant with one key difference – no stock. This version is based on the STEN Mk II(S) platform used by British SOE units, where simplicity, compact size, and low sound signature were essential.
The Commando Grip configuration represents a stripped-down, stockless layout where the traditional stock is replaced with a skeletal-style pistol grip. The result is a noticeably shorter and more agile platform, better suited for confined spaces and mobile use – exactly the kind of scenarios these weapons were originally intended for.
The STEN Mk II(S) is widely regarded as one of the earliest suppressed submachine guns used in special operations. During the 1940s, it saw use with British SOE and Commando units across occupied Europe, particularly in France, as well as in operations in Norway. The platform continued to see use beyond WWII, including in Southeast Asia and covert operations around the Vietnam–Cambodia border, highlighting the long-term practicality of its design.
The replica retains the raw, industrial look of the original. The receiver is primarily steel, while the suppressor is made from aluminum. The long integrated suppressor also serves a functional purpose in this version, housing the battery and featuring a built-in tracer unit with a muzzle flash effect, adding extra immersion during low-light gameplay.
The characteristic side-mounted magazine and rotatable magazine well are both present. The magwell can be rotated into a storage position for a flatter profile and locked into place for use. The adjustable hop-up unit is accessible through the receiver for easy tuning.
Internally, the replica is built around a version 7 gearbox, familiar from M14 platforms. Steel gears and 6 mm slide bearings provide smooth operation and good durability. The 330 mm inner barrel with a 6.02 mm diameter supports consistent accuracy and shot placement.
The replica operates in full-auto only, with no safety, reflecting the simplicity of the original STEN design. The Commando Grip configuration makes the platform significantly more compact and maneuverable, though it offers less stability compared to stock-equipped variants.
