AEG Gears and Gear Sets
AEG gears and gear sets transfer power from the motor to the piston inside the gearbox of an electric airsoft gun and drive the firing cycle. A standard gear set typically includes three gears: the bevel gear, spur gear, and sector gear, which work together to pull the piston back and release it during each shot.
This category includes individual gears as well as complete gear sets for electric airsoft guns. Gear sets are available in different gear ratios that affect how the gearbox operates.
Standard ratio (around 18:1)
A balanced option offering a good compromise between speed, torque, and durability.
High-speed gears (e.g. 13:1)
Lower ratios increase the cycle speed and can improve the rate of fire.
High-torque gears (e.g. 32:1)
Higher ratios provide more torque, making it easier to pull stronger upgrade springs.
Upgrading or replacing gears can improve gearbox durability, reliability, and shot consistency, making them a common upgrade for tuned AEG builds.
